This will not be a blog offering solutions for the questions presented, but more a blog to figuratively tack some questions on your refrigerator for your own pondering and answering.
We are living in a time that might look very familiar to our older generations and/or those who have already left us. We are living in a time that might look very familiar to those surviving on other countries. I would give a lot to be able to sit down with some of those who have gone before me to glean their wisdom and hear their stories. I look around and I see those biblical warnings of the times more and more every day. Even just looking at life without the glasses of scripture you see the obvious disaster pending. We can wake up everyday with the hope that the world will look a little better than the day before and I’m quite an optimistic person, but I understand that optimism doesn’t change reality, it just helps to deal with reality in a more prepared way.
Being prepper minded, a conspiracy realist, pro freedom, God fearing and several other things I naturally think about surviving in times of trouble and being prepared to live in sudden changes. Trouble and sudden changes can be any number of things. We could face extreme weather that takes out our electricity, their could be riots that wouldn’t allow us to reach necessities within the city, a lockdown as we’ve seen can cause several issues to our daily needs, we could be without at any time for many reasons.
It may be anxiety inducing, it may be difficult, it may cause fear but it is entirely wise to have a plan in place. None of those gripping emotional responses that have caused many to avoid the questions will have helped you when your city is flooded or your grocery shelves cannot provide you nutrition.
If I find my family in the middle of a disaster, an event, or trouble; I know that I need to be able to feed my family, have electricity or a replacement, I need to be able to wash clothes, cook food, have a source for water, first aid, and we need to be able to protect ourselves. Like I said, there can be alot more to it but these are a good list of general priorities.
The following questions are just some of many that you need to ask yourself but I believe to be the more pertinent ones…
How will I feed my family?
Where will my electricity or energy come from?
How will I wash our clothing?
How can I cook food without electricity?
Where will my water come from and how can I store it?
What supplies and knowledge will I need for first aid?
What does protection look like?
Everyone will answer these questions differently , and you will find more questions that rabbit trail off of these along the way.
Some of you may not feel the need to prepare in this way, and by all means you have to use your discernment. When thinking about these things, remember that our normal ways of providing these things to our family could be completely cut off, problem solve plan. Even thinking out a plan is putting you farther ahead, and no this does not have to be complicated, do your best with what you have and glean from those who have gone before you. The resources on this topic are far and wide!
I hope you tack this list to your fridge and think. Prepared is wise.
